What
we offer:
Deruxa Cottage
is a refurbished 3 bedroom farm house situated on a
farm ± 40km north of Pretoria and 20km east of
Cullinan in the De Tweedespruit Conservancy.
The
farm has a distinct bushveld feel all around the cottage.
This private breakaway is the only accommodation on
the 21 hectare farm, and is ideal for a mid-week break
or a weekend get-away.
The
cottage offers sleeping facilities for 9 people. Extra
mattresses are also available for the children sharing
some of the rooms with their parents. The main bedroom
has a double bed with a luxurious en suite bath room.
The
other two bedrooms consist of a double bed in second
room and three single beds in the third bedroom. These
two rooms share a bathroom. The lobby (library) has
a fold out double bed sleeper couch.
A
fully equipped kitchen, bar area and dining room is
at your disposal. The facilities on offer include a
fridge, ice machine, gas stove, microwave oven, hot
tray, cutlery and crockery. The kitchen/bar area also
has a built in fire place to warm up your winter evenings.
There are also two TV's and a CD player in the bar area.
Dual view DSTV is included in your stay. All linen and
towels are provided. Basic spice, tea, coffee and sugar
as well as shampoo and soap are included.
Bird
Viewing offer:
There are approximately 286
species of birds in the De TweedeSpriut Conservancy
of which quite a number have been identified on the
farm. Twitchers can spot a variety of these birds on
the farm in the early mornings, late afternoons and
evenings.
Game
Viewing:
The farm has been game fenced, and a number of animals
have been established within the confines of the fence.
Game viewing includes Nyala, Blue Wildebeest, Blesbuck,
Duikers, Red Hartebeest, Waterbuck and Ostridges.
Other Wildlife:
Warthogs, Porcupines, Banded Mongoose, Small spotted
genet, Hedgehog, Spring Hares, Tortoises and Bush babies.
On-site Facilities:
The lapa/boma is ± 80m from the main cottage
and is equipped with an 8 seater table, a prep bowl
with running water, a pizza oven and large boma for
bushveld fires. An outside toilet is also provided.
Off-site
Facilities:
The historical town of Cullinan is only 20km away and
offer restaurants such as: Sir Thomas Cullinan and Jan
Harmsgat, Diamond Mine tours and an Arts and Crafts
Gallery. Excursions such as ballooning safaris, horseback
rides and bicycle routes are also available. There is
an information brochure in the cottage.
Other Information:
The
stove and geysers of both bath rooms of Deruxa Cottage
are gas operated. Heaters in the rooms and lights in
the house are operated by electricity. Candles are provided
when power breaks occur.
Fire
wood, charcoal, fire lighters, cold drinks and snacks
and can be purchased from the farm assistant, who is
on site permanently to assist with the daily operation
of the farm.
